Why the focus on education?

Samantha taught her first summer camp the summer of 1999, 7 months pregnant with a 2yr old in tow. A friend asked if she would be the 2nd adult in a sweet little camp she was running. Sam had a blast, it was exhausting, but she had so much fun! She knew then that she wanted to incorporate education into their very (at that time) nebulous farm plan.
As Scott and Samantha's farm evolved and their children grew, Samantha started offering more camps to more kids focusing on themes that meant something to her (and would entertain their personal kids).

All Bull City Farm's camps focus on the animals with a slight twist for the afternoon activities. They've have done everything from stop motion animation films to play production to group games to homestead crafts, but Samantha's favorites are Cow and Story Camps. Now she works alongside her eldest to provide some of the most creative farming camps around.

It doesn’t just end there, once you been bitten by the teaching bug it bleeds into all parts of your business! From chatting to our customers about the importance of sustainability, to discussing farming trials and tribulations with our fellow farmers, we see knowledge as something to be shared with your community.

Cow Camp

For rising kindergarten and up, this session is all about our beautiful Jersey cows and calves. You’ll learn how to milk, feed, halter and show them off to their best advantage. Hopefully we'll end the week with the Central Carolina District Junior Dairy Show in Hillsborough open to family and friends (COVID allowing). If the show is not a go then we’ll have our own show on the farm.

Farm Animal Camp

For rising kindergarten and up- Kids love animals and animals love kids, for the most part. Farm Animal Camp will teach your children how to interact with the 5 main groups of animals we have on the farm. As with all our camps, the morning will be spent feeding and taking care of all the animals. The afternoon will be spent with a focus on one of the groups we have on the farm (cows, pigs, chickens, horses and sheep). They’ll learn how to “read” the animal’s body language, how to care for them and what diseases and pests trouble them. This camp is a great introduction to the farm for kids who have never experienced farm animals up close but designed to broaden the knowledge base of even our most experienced Bull City Farm kids. There will be something for every experience level.

Story Camp

Dungeons and Dragons Style

For rising 2nd grade and up, things get a little imaginative in Story Camp. Kids participate in a week-long tale where their decisions and actions shape the story around them. This camp will be tailored to the group of kids that week with the head councilor, Mira, acting as the guide and narrator. Much like a live D&D game, any actions taken will be followed by the roll of the dice, bringing an element of suspense as the kids anxiously wait for the dice to settle not knowing if luck is on their side. The kids will spend the first day learning the ins and outs of character creation and perfecting their own hero to play. The rest of the week will have a different conflict with the final day concluding in an epic finale! Don’t worry though! The kids will still feed the animals in the morning and get to explore the farm as much as they want

2021 Summer Camps

Covid Accommodations

We will be outside 100% of the time. We will have porta pottys and outside handwashing stations to prevent clustering in the bathroom. As of right now everyone (including counselors) will wear a mask at all times even when socially distancing is an option. We will assess the situation every day based on County, State and CDC recommendations and adjust as necessary.

Adult Classes

Our classes are constantly changing! Normally we only hold them in the fall and winter when things calm down here on the farm, however with our new Farm Stand who knows what we might be able to whip up. Check out our shop below to see what we’re currently offering.
